Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community

Pros:THUMBS UP FROM OSAGE COUNTY FIRST GRADE.

Cons:
NONE NOTED

The Bottom Line:

Well matched for use with copy machines as well as inkjet or laser print printers; this nice quality paper is packed 50 sheets to the packet.

NOTE: as with many of the items I review in this category the items are not toys per se, rather these are resources produced by an education, school, instruction centered publisher; and are classroom type materials intended for use with primary and older age students in both public school or home school setting as well as for use by parents who are working to help their children with learning content areas.

This product is a package of Computer Paper

-----------------------------

California Publishing House: TEACHER CREATED RESOURCES® Apples and Dots Computer Paper is offered as a packet of 8.5 x 11 inch paper.  Well matched for use with copy machines as well as inkjet or laser print printers; this nice quality paper is packed 50 sheets to the packet.

This handsome paper features a pea green, polka dot border enclosing a crimson line.  Center, writing, portion is white, smooth easy writing surface.  Five tasty, rosy apples with emerald leaves appear along the border at the bottom of the excellently crafted paper.

I find this paper to be a good quality materials crafted from industry standard materials regarding worth, safety and suitability for use in situations where young children can reasonably be expected to be present.  Paper accepts pencil, ballpoint pen inks or marking pens with equal ease.  I find  no bleed through whatever the writing implement used.

Center portion is most of the page allowing adequate space for Little Scribes to pen letters, words and sentences.  At this time in the school year most of the letter writing accomplished will be dictated.  I direct the first sentence or two, Little Scribes carefully write, we check letter formation all along the process, and we check to be sure the letters are placed on the lines, and that the words are spelled correctly.

Then Little Scribes attempt a sentence or two on their own.  Writing a non-dictated sentenced tends to cause some early consternation which becomes lessened as the school year progresses and Little Scribes become more able to formulate sentences and spell the words needed to get the ideas onto the paper.

Little Scribes pen the sentence and then hand their paper to me, my standard is, if I can figure out what you mean; then we can send the letter to Our Military Member Josh, phonetic spelling and all, however if I cannot figure out what you are trying to say then we’ll have to work on the phonetic spelling a bit before the letter can be handed to the packet to send.

Ongoing visits with Josh when he comes home on leave assure that Our Military Member enjoys the letters and especially enjoys the First Grade phonetic work.

During September Osage County First Grade theme focus centers around apples.  Calendar cards feature apples, writing papers, teacher made games, name plates for desks, all show apples.  Apples are a popular fruit among the 6 year old set.

Osage County First Grade writes a letter to Our Military Member on our apple paper, I add lines to sheets and Little Learners write on the lines.  For the most part Little Scribes have not yet learned to keep their letters traveling in a straight line across the paper.

I find this attractive, smooth surfaced paper to be dandy for writing letters, as well as for penning an invitation home to invite parents to come for our first quarter awards assembly.

NOTErecently I was asked questions regarding safety procedures used for creating classroom materials as well as whether or not materials continue to be by Teachers for Teachers.

Emails to Teacher Created Resources resulted in quick reply Our (TCR)  items are tested and comply with Consumer Product Safety Commission standards or regulations.

Yes, our items are still created by Teachers for Teachers. All our books are primarily printed in the US, however some of our decorative items are printed in China. We are in the process of correlating our books to the Common Core Standards. Several of our series of books have already been done. I the past we used the McRel National Standards as a guideline for our products.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission standards or regulations is a set of standards and policies set by the federal government; I downloaded the information from the .gov site and find no wiggle room for any publisher of materials designed for use in classrooms to offer any products other than those complying with the unambiguous rules and regulations.  And, after teaching most of my career in California where stringent state and local regulations were also enforced am pleased to add my usual caveat reading the safety of materials and products.

Caveat :  I feel comfortable using supplies offered by this Educational Publisher.

Materials are manufactured of  good quality resources and are manufactured to provide a product suitable for classroom usage.  I find TCR teaching materials are created to provide harmless usage in situations where small children can reasonably be expected to be present; i.e. in classroom or comparable setting.

Recent personal correspondence with TCR indicates TCR items are tested and comply with Consumer Product Safety Commission standards or regulations.  This is a set of standards and regulations set by the US federal government. I find this acid and lignin free product to be robust, long life and hard-wearing. Safe, non harmful materials are especially welcomed by educators who buy most if not all classroom teaching and reinforcement materials.  We want and need well made materials we can use for several years.

Happy to recommend Teacher Created Resources

NOTE: Teacher Created Products teaching materials  are available online from a diversity of sites as well as being offered in brick and mortar type educational/instructional type shops.
