  • User Rating: Excellent

  • Durability:

Pros:THUMBS UP FROM OSAGE COUNTY FIRST GRADE

Cons:
NONE NOTED

The Bottom Line:

Adding interest TO classroom activity centers these Apple Calendar Cards are dandy for Osage County First Grade as the new term begins and apples are our class emphasis and theme.

NOTE: as with many of the items I review in this category the items are not toys per se, rather these are resources produced by an education, school, instruction centered publisher; and are classroom type materials intended for use with primary and older age students in both public school or home school setting as well as for use by parents who are working to help their children with learning content areas.

This product is a packet of numbered, calendar cover up type cards.

-----------------------------

TEACHER CREATED RESOURCES® Decorative, Circles and Dots, Apple Days Calendar Cards packaged 36 to the packet feature a glossy protecting veneer designed to add beauty and permanence.

Calendar cards are round, rubicund toned apple centers with white numerals.  Emerald tinted stem and leaf appear at the uppermost point of the apple.  Apple is set against a black and white border.  White spots dot the black outline surrounding the apples.

Decorative and educational, these handy cards measuring a customary, 3 X 2.5 inches are suitable for use on standard classroom calendar blanks.

Imprinted using nontoxic inks set upon well-made papers crafted to industry standards by a well-known educational publishing house; these calendar rounds are suitable for use as game pieces, matching numeral cards, sorting, patterning and other math activities and even for use as marking the days on the calendar.

Because Calendar Cards are generally pretty inexpensive; I have a tendency to place calendar cards for use during Math center activities throughout the school year.

This assortment of cerise apple calendar cards feature tasty, child pleasing tags useful as Osage County First Grade teaching and reinforcement trappings.  During September our theme is apples.  Adding interest, motivation and excitement;  Math lessons often find Mrs M tossing apple calendar cards to Little Learners as we learn odd and even numbers; Little Learners hold up their card and state whether the numeral held is odd or even.  Other variation finds Little Learners pairing up as odds or evens, or lining up by odds and evens, or finding the odd or even following their numeral, or leading their numeral.  Keeping Little Learners on task, enthused and attentive can be a challenge.  The challenges are met successfully with well made, inexpensive materials used as proficiency builders.

I find supplemental materials used as skill builders to be incomparable for helping to strengthen lessons as Little Learners having specific trouble with particular curriculum areas work to fortify proficiency and understanding.   Accelerated learners relishing additional challenge while growing expertise use reinforcement materials to expand proficiency and understanding.

Inexpensive, teacher friendly, creative products preset to afford practice, buttress and continue learning are representative of the Early Childhood classroom.  Most teachers I know buy most of their teaching materials as well as supplemental items.  Finding packages of eye-catching apples on the sale shelf at local shop catering to teachers, classrooms and children is always a great help as I prepare for the new school term.

In addition to adding interest classroom activity centers these Apple Calendar Cards are dandy for Osage County First Grade as the new term begins and apples are our class emphasis and theme.

I often look for materials highlighting a multiplicity of apple types so that Little Learners begin to recognize that there are a diversity of materials and apples too available. For Osage County First Grade classroom usage I have a good few sets of economical apple themed materials generated by more than one educational publisher.

I like that materials from one educational publisher generally serves to compliment materials produced by others of the educational publishers.  And, that all are stout, child and teacher pleasing and classroom suitable and do serve to encourage awareness toward healthy snacking in conjunction with providing math lesson and reinforcement tasking. I find individualized instruction and work activities to have great value for most Little Learners.

Happy to recommend TEACHER CREATED RESOURCES® Decorative, Circles and Dots, Apple Days Calendar Cards

NOTE:  recently I was asked questions regarding safety procedures used for creating classroom materials as well as whether or not materials continue to be by Teachers for Teachers.

Emails to Teacher Created Resources resulted in quick reply Our (TCR)  items are tested and comply with Consumer Product Safety Commission standards or regulations.

Yes, our items are still created by Teachers for Teachers. All our books are primarily printed in the US, however some of our decorative items are printed in China. We are in the process of correlating our books to the Common Core Standards. Several of our series of books have already been done. I the past we used the McRel National Standards as a guideline for our products.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission standards or regulations is a set of standards and policies set by the federal government; I downloaded the information from the .gov site and find no wiggle room for any publisher of materials designed for use in classrooms to offer any products other than those complying with the unambiguous rules and regulations.  And, after teaching most of my career in California where stringent state and local regulations were also enforced am pleased to add my usual caveat reading the safety of materials and products.

Caveat :  I feel comfortable using supplies offered by this Educational Publisher.  Materials are manufactured of good quality resources and are manufactured to provide a product suitable for classroom usage.  I find TCR teaching materials are created to provide harmless usage in situations where small children can reasonably be expected to be present; i.e. in classroom or comparable setting.

Recent personal correspondence with TCR indicates TCR items are tested and comply with Consumer Product Safety Commission standards or regulations.  This is a set of standards and regulations set by the US federal government.

I find this acid and lignin free product to be robust, long life and hard-wearing. Safe, non harmful materials are especially welcomed by educators who buy most if not all classroom teaching and reinforcement materials.  We want and need well made materials we can use for several years.
