I haven't caught a good music video in a really long time. Do they exist anymore? Have you seen one lately? If so, can you tell me where I might find one? There used to be a really cool channel that played lots of music videos. I can't remember what it was called..... what was it? Music Television, maybe?? Yeah, that's right! MTV! Because it was devoted to music, you see.
Over the past few years, feeling somewhat nostalgic, I have often scrolled through the 90 or so cable channels on my television in search of the channel that used to be MTV. I found one that calls itself MTV, but I don't think it's really the same thing. It can't be, because I haven't found any videos there yet! What happened to the Real MTV, and do the folks there know about this imposter channel which has stolen their name???
Imposter MTV really has nothing to do with music, as far as I can tell. I did find this one show, called Total Request Live, that plays 10 videos a day. But they only play parts of the videos. And they only play the same 10 videos day after day until some guy called Carson Daly arbitrarily decides to "retire" a video. You see, when Carson decides he's sick of seeing it, you can't ask for it anymore. Wait, there's good news, though! He will usually debut a new video that you're now allowed to ask for instead!! Yay!! I don't think that TRL is really the democracy that its propaganda claims it is. It's more like a dictatorship-- no, a fascist regime-- with the malevolent Carson at the helm. Could it be this Carson Daly, perhaps, who is the one responsible for the hijacking of my MTV?
When TRL is not on, Imposter MTV doesn't do videos. It plays silly game shows, way too many reality shows (which they repeat way too many times), and some weird series kind of things which I totally don't understand. Why are these shows on Imposter Music Television when they have nothing to do with music, anyway??
I strongly believe that somewhere out there are artists besides The Backstreet Boys, N Sync, Christina, Britney, Kid Rock and Eminem who are making videos. Who shows these videos, and where can you find them??? Has anyone actually seen these videos?? Are they really out there somewhere?? I've heard strange rumors of a station called M2-- supposedly run by the same original MTV people who were booted out by the Imposter MTV alien invasion-- but I've never seen such a station. Who do you have to be to get this station, or does it really exist? And, if it does, how long will it be before it, too, falls prey to Carson Daly's evil regime and becomes Imposter M2??
