Pros: They still play SOME music.
Cons: They play the same songs over-n-over(that is, when theyre not playing an MTV show).

Ah, MuchMusic. "The Nations Music Station. 24 Hours a Day, Forever!"
MuchMusic originally started out as a 1/2 hour program on CityTV, called The New Music. In August of 1984, The Nations Music Station was born. For nearly two decades, MuchMusic has been a cut above the rest when it comes to Music on Television. MuchMusic debuted with a massive playlist of videos, and prided itself in playing some of the more obscure and experimental videos.
Today (December 2003) however, it is a different story. MuchMusic has turned into a Canadian version of MTV. (It's too bad really, because there already is an MTV Canada.) When you tune into MuchMusic you will see one of 2 things:
1 - An MTV, or MTV rip off program.
2 - One of 10 Music Videos.
Let's take a look at their current program line up to explain further.
MTV Shows
Becoming - Fans re-make their favourite pop-stars video.
Duets - Fans meet/sing a duet with their favourite pop-star.
Making The Band 2 - How the latest pop groups got started.
My Guide To Becoming A Rock Star - Sitcom.
MTV Styled Shows
Exposed - MuchMusic VJs hang out with a pop star for a day.
In Your Space - Like TLCs Trading Spaces, but with a smaller budget
Much On Demand - Formerly OnDemand/RSVP. Viewers send in their requests (supposidly). For some reason
the same Pop songs get played repeatdley. Live environment, similar to TRL. Viewers also vote on polls (IE, Do you think JLO/Afleck will last? What did you think of the Britney/Madonna kiss? etc.) *yawn*
Best Of Much On Demand - The most played songs on MuchOnDemand.
Other
Much Mega Hits - Pop Music Videos
Much Music Countdown - Pop Music Videos played in a countdown format.
Powershift - Viewers vote on a pre-selected list of Top 40 Videos, and theyre played in a countdown format.
Video 2 Video - Pop Music Videos that have similarites. (6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon).
Much Vibe - Pop/R&B Music Videos that are played on the Digital Channel MuchVibe
Much Loud - Pop/Rock Music Videos that are played on the Digital Channel MuchLoud
Much Take Over - A Fan gets a 'makeover' and introduces current Pop Music Videos.
Much Top Tens - A show where Pop Music Videos get played in Various "Top 10" countdowns.
Combat Zone - Viewers vote on 1 of 2 Pop Videos to get played at the end of the show.
Various Specials - Britney Spears Day (A full day of Britney Music Videos/Interviews/etc.), Teen Choice Awards 200X, Justin Timberlake Day, etc.
'Old' MuchMusic Style Shows
Much News - VJs George and Hannah keep us informed on whats happening in the music industry. You'll have your Britney/etc. 'news' in there too, but they dig up some usefull information as well.
VideoFlow - 1.5 hrs of Music Videos. (Normally the same Pop they play on Much On Demand, Much Mega Hits, etc.) but SOMETIMES, they'll play something else. This show used to be on for 5 plus hours per day. (And it used to be hosted with a live VJ). Now its pre-taped, so the VJs have no real purpose as they don't even know what videos are going to be played.
The New Music - (www.thenewmusic.net) The show that started it all. Also available on CityTV and ASN.
Going Coastal - Formerly MuchEast and MuchWest.One hour of music videos and interviews from the East/West coast. Various types of Music, but no Pop. This show is often pre-empted.
Much Dedications - An all request show, on once a week. What RSVP/OnDemand used to be like. Except there is no host.
For a station that brags about having the largest collection of Music Videos in the world, it sure would be nice if they played something besides the same 20 every day.
