I was very surprised to see so few opinions on the best comedy show on NBC, "Frasier". Although I enjoy many programs on the NBC line-up, such as "Will and Grace", "Friends", "ER" "Law & Order" and their new drama, "West Wing", the best is still "Frasier".
I enjoyed Dr. Frasier Crane while he was on "Cheers", another great NBC comedy, but the development of his character and that of his radio colleagues and family members, on his own show, are comedy at it's best.
I thought Frasier was a unique pompous snob, but he is definitely rivaled in that category by his brother, Niles. They share the profession of psychiatry, a taste for the finer things in life, and an almost complete lack of self understanding. Their relationship is rounded out by their father, Martin, a former cop, and probably the most unlikely parent for these two prissy men. Daphne, the live-in healthcare provider for Martin and Roz, Frasier's producer on his radio show are two funny ladies. I don't believe there has ever been a better ensemble cast.
The writing for the show is always great. I am always laughing out loud while watching Frasier, Niles, Roz, Martin and Daphne try to live and work together.
I am not a rerun watcher, but I love to watch "Frasier", over and over again.
