Pros: Can order on phone and online; easy to return items
Cons: They don't tell what you don't ask
The Bottom Line: Much better than shopping from catalogues as you can really see what you're getting. The variety is incredible.

| WendyT's Full Review: QVC |
QVC used to be my commercial relief. Whenever a commercial came on I would immediately change channels and watch QVC for the two/three minute period. My youngest sister used to say that I was trading short commercials for a long one. Maybe she was right. But there is a reason to my madness...
Basically, I am completely drawn to gadgets. It is my belief that QVC knows this and plays upon it :). Face it, QVC is the biggest gadget hawker on the tube. I've bought everything from BlueBlocker sunglasses (remember when they first came out?) to a large cardiovascular workout machine. With a few 'gotta haves' like a camera, portable heater, car equipment and gifts that I couldn't find elsewhere. There was even a very nifty rod and reel hanger for my dad.
My father wasn't too thrilled with his hanger so I returned it with no questions asked or hassles. That was nice, because that was one gift I didn't need to be stuck with!
I did have one noteworthy problem that I hope you can benefit from. When I bought the cardiovascular machine, I specifically asked the operator (who, they say can answer any question on any item) whether it would come to me in a million pieces. She said that all I would have to do is attach the handle bars and pedals; otherwise it would be assembled. This was important to me because I am not mechanically inclined. I was satisfied and went on with the purchase.
When it was delivered I found that the operator was right regarding the pedals and handle bars, but what she neglected to tell me was that the computerized part (that determines the number of reps, miles, calories, etc.) was in a couple dozen small pieces. As the pedals pass a certain area a signal is picked up by an "eye" and it feeds the computer the necessary data (not something to be left out). I asked my neighbor to help me assemble it (or rather let me watch him assemble it) and it took over two hours!
While I don't watch the program constantly or order on a regular basis, I do still occasionally do my 'commercial check up'. They are still going strong with competitive prices (especially during clearance sales). I especially like the way the hosts research the products before presenting them and take their time to display the attributes. (Of course nary a con is mentioned.)
If you order from them, you'll probably be happy. If you're not pleased you can send it back without any problems. But be sure to ask any questions you might have before you buy and you'll definitely have a more satisfying experience with them!
Note: QVC actually stands for Quality, Value and Convenience which to this writer, is more than just words. Over the years they have certainly stood up to their name.
