| CRXLover88's Full Review: QVC |
Shop ‘til you drop without ever changing out of your nightgown, without doing your hair or applying your make-up. Just turn on QVC. It’s a Godsend for insomniacs as it’s live-on-the-air 24/7 except for Christmas Day. I’ve been watching QVC since its debut in 1986. I turn it on for the background noise while doing housework or when there’s nothing else on TV. They do have high quality merchandise and it’s convenient if you hate going to the mall like I do.
However, the “value” is what you have to watch out for. Case in point: Not too long ago, they had a VCR as the Today’s Special Value. I got the model number from customer service and set out for my local Best Buy store. Best Buy’s regular price for the very same model was substantially lower than QVC’s -- and don’t forget the shipping and handling that QVC tacks on (that was $9.00). Not a good deal at all.
Here is another example: I love a couple of QVC’s clothing lines – Fashion Formulas and Denim & Company. These clothes are easy care and last forever. I love the Denim & Co. bike shorts and I own several pairs of these. But one day I was shopping at my local Walmart and came across a pair of stretchy denim bike shorts with the Hanes label. I bought a pair, took them home and compared them to my Denim & Co. shorts. They were exactly the same. I’m 99% sure they are made by the same manufacturer. So from now on, I’ll save $5.00 a pair and buy them at Walmart.
QVC has great prices on sterling silver. Compared to what I find locally, QVC’s sterling is better quality and less expensive. Their gold is another story – priced way too high, usually around $25 a gram. QVC also carries a line of cubic zirconia known as Diamonique that I’m happy with. I have several Diamonique rings from the late 1980’s and they are still sparkly and clear, not cloudy. Inferior cubic zirconia has a tendency to turn cloudy and opaque. Not my Diamonique!
Returns to QVC are never a problem. You have 30 days from the date you receive the item to decide if you like it. They even provide a return-shipping label; you have to pay for the return shipping unless the product is defective. They even refund the amount it cost to ship the item to YOU. A lot of companies don’t do this.
Customer service is great too. Two pairs of earrings never arrived (thanks to the US mail). A call to customer service had replacements on the way, no questions asked. One time I bought a bread machine from QVC. I had used it several months when I received a letter from QVC explaining the lid “might” become defective. They reimbursed me for shipping the unit back and gave me $20 extra for my inconvenience.
Recently acquiring a satellite dish, I have been able to compare QVC to 3 other shopping networks: Home Shopping, Value Vision, and Shop at Home. QVC is tops in professionalism, customer service and quality. In my book, they are number one. (PS: I don’t work for QVC).
