Where else but on the Travel Channel can you, in just a few hours, discover the native delicacies of Japan, see the world's most exclusive hotel, and then see every attraction in Edmunton? For someone who loves travel but not the funds to do so, this is your dream!
Excellent programming, and informative hosts guide you through the shows, and there are many great shows to catch. My personal favorite would have to be 'The Tourist', which follows one man on a "backstage pass" to many major cities. There is, of course, 'Lonely Planet', which takes you to some far out places, and makes it's very witty host subject himself to the native cultures.
There are, unfortunately, shows that don't seem to quite fit in with the rest of the programming. 'Incredible Vacation Videos' for instance, should probably be on FOX, I do understand the basic 'vacation' premise, but it does not fit with the rest of the shows.
You find yourself being sucked in, and after that, you find you are not alone. I can spend an entire night on the Travel Channel contentedly, not needing to flip at all, my husband right by my side. We have decided that we will use the Travel Channel to plan our far away retirement!
