I thoroughly enjoy the TV show Great Vacation Homes, hosted by Samantha Brown on the Travel Channel. I found it by accident about a year ago while I was channel surfing one lazy Sunday morning. I was caught by the most magnificent home with incredible decor.
That's how Great Vacation Homes grabs its viewers. The show starts off with it's quirky and funny host, Sam, telling a little bit about the area she visiting. She then goes on to talk about the vacation home she is to visit and who owns it. She walks in and owns the place as the real owners "make like" they have known her forever. Sam proceeds to do a walk-through of the entire home showing off different aspects of the home and how it sets it apart from others. It's amazing how much money people have! Most of these homes look like year round homes of the UPPER UPPER class. As she describes the home she always tells some corny joke or does something incredibly wacky. Sam Brown has an irreverent style! I love it!
After we are given a tour of the home, we come to learn a little bit about the owners and then, on occasion, Sam and the owners give a brief tour of the town or locale of the home. Some places visited are Saginaw, Michigan, Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Red Lodge, Montana. Many of the homes are rentable and can be viewed with prices on the Travel Channel's website.
The show consists of two homes (fifteen minutes each) and if that doesn't seem like enough for you, on Sunday Great Vacation Homes is on at 11:00 and 11:30, therefore giving you four vacation homes to oogle over! During the week, you can watch it at 10:30am and 12:30 pm.
If you love architecture, interior decorating and getting away from it all, this is definitely the show for you!
