Pros:Protects phone, built in grips, covered ports/openings, drop protection
Cons:Bubbles on screen, rainbow effect/puddles on screen
The Bottom Line: The Trident Cyclops Protective Case does a good job protecting the phone -- but unfortunately it has a rainbow puddle effect and air bubbles between the screen and screen protector
I purchased a Trident Cyclops Protective Case for my iPhone 4S because I knew the iPhone would evidentally be dropped on the ground.

The Trident Cyclops Protective Case for the iPhone 4/4S is one of the many phone cases available for the Apple iPhone 4/4S. It fits both the 4 and the 4S. I purchased the case from Amazon.com for about $20.
"Built-in bubble-free screen protector. Impact resistant polycarbonate. Shock absorbing silicone. Scratch-resistant screen protector."

When my Droid X phone died, I decided to get an iPhone 4S. After I purchased the iPhone, the next purchase was a case for it because I knew that the phone would take a beating, especially since my kid likes to play with my phone.
I purchased the Cyclops Trident Protective Case for the iPhone 4/4S after quite a bit of searching for a good iPhone case. The Trident case comes in five colors -- I chose the pink, which is a bubblegum-like pink. Installing the case was fairly simple. I wiped down the phone with the soft cloth that was included in the packaging. Then I applied the clear film layer to the back of my phone, put the phone into the back half of the case and matched up the openings and then snapped the front half over the back half. The case snaps on securely and is actually quite difficult to remove once it is snapped together.
There are covers for each opening and access port such as the plug in/charger slot and head phone slot. The sound button and the power buttons are also covered with black cushy buttons and work fine. The home button also has a black cushy button over it. There is a built in screen protector on the Trident Cyclops Protective Case. The built in screen protector is where I have the most problem with the case because it causes a rainbow effect/puddle over my screen and also has some points that seem to stick to the screen, making it look like there are bubbles between the screen and the screen protector. I have tried (in vain) to remove the rainbow puddles and the bubbles but have not been successful. I now just live with the slight annoyance of the two. My husband tried to fix the bubble by pressing down on it, which only made the bubble spread. I opened the case, wiped down both the protector and screen again, and put the phone back in the case but the bubbles and the rainbow puddles both reappeared.
As for the case itself, it's sturdy and durable. I like that there are grips on the side and a bumpy textured back. The back of the case sports an opening for the camera and for the Apple logo. The case offers good protection and makes for easy gripping. My toddler likes to play with my phone and the grips make it easy for her to hold the phone. In terms of drop protection, the Trident Cyclops Protective Case does a good job. I have dropped my phone at the gym and it has landed hard on the floor and each time, the case has protected my phone (and screen) from damage. Upon impact, the two halves on the case split a bit apart when absorbing the shock and I was able to snap the halves back easily together. I'm glad that the Trident Cyclops Protective Case protects the iPhone so well.
