Choosing as Airline to fly can be a tricky choice.
Air India is the government owned International carrier of India , Indian
Airlines is mostly for local destinations.
Having flown in various international airlines - Swiss Air,Singapore
Airlines ,China Airlines ,Air India ,Qantas ,NorthWest ,Delta etc...
I am in a fairly good position to compare.My favourites among the airlines
mentioned - Air India and Qantas.
For passengers flying from Australia,Singapore or UK , AirIndia has
daily flights to and from various destinations in India.In fact it has more than 20 weekly flights from Singapore to India.For Non -resident
Indians returning home , Air-India should be the No.1 choice to fly
back home for various reasons -
a.It serves as a trailer to Indian culture and people.
b.Indian food
c.Indian Music(Classical and Filmy)
d.Indian Movies(Hindi)
For people of foreign origin visiting India for the first time,flying
Air India will be very useful because you can get valuable information and
tips from the local Indians flying on the Airline.Moreover the Air hostess
and Flight Attendants are quite friendly.
One occasion I remember is during a flight from Singapore to Bombay via
Madras - about 8 hours journey, I was served dinner twice.A word of caution to passengers who need to reach their destination on time :Punctuality is not the hallmark of AirIndia . You can expect the flight to be delayed more than 50% of the time.
All in all a good airline to fly.
