Pros: Comfortable economy class, great service.
Cons: None.
The Bottom Line: If you are flying to Asia, this is the best airline I've tried so far. I have no complaints at all.

| PoChuck's Full Review: EVA Air |
After over three years back in the U.S., it was time to return to Bangkok for a vacation (I lived there for 4 1/2 years and my wife is from there).
We bought our tickets online from Orbitz (soon to receive an excellent rating from this reviewer). EVA was much cheaper than the next lowest fair, and it was the only affordable itinerary I found that put us there around noon rather than around midnight.
We sat in economy class of course, however, it was more comfortable than economy in any airline I had previously flown. The flight from Seattle to Taipei was 12 1/2 hours, but was comfortable except for the drunken elderly man behind me who couldn't decide whether to sit or stand while everyone else was sleeping (or in my case, trying to sleep). This was hardly the fault of the airline (it was later discovered that he was in the wrong seat and had been looking for his bag). The flight was only half full, so everybody with a window seat got to lie across three seats. We were traveling with two small children, so we were seated in the four middle seats at the wing. They showed two Western movies and one Chinese one, the subtitles moved too fast for me, but EVA is out of Taiwan, so I was in the minority. The food was decent. When we reached Taipei the crew bowed, without thinking, I applauded. But so did everybody else.
From Taipei to Bangkok was a comfortable 3 1/2 hours, which went by without incident. This is where I finally slept, so I don't remember the movie. The return, Bangkok to Taipei, was the same. Decent food, good service, I dozed, the crew bowed. Here the only complaint was the volume of the headphones tripling when the captain interupted for an announcement.
From Taipei to Seattle it was ten hours. Airspeed reached 725 mph because of the jetstream. The flight left almost half an hour late, but still landed 15 minutes ahead of schedule. Again, two Western movies and one Chinese one. This one was actually interesting.
When the movies weren't on, the display continually showed the flight's status, alternating English and Mandarin. They also showed some CNN and Taiwan's news. The aircrew were genuinely pleasant, and often stopped to ask if we needed anything, even when they weren't summoned. Toys were passed out for the children, toys that actually held their interest for a while. This was by far the most relaxed flight I'd had while traveling with children. I believe that I would be willing to pay extra to fly this airline in the future.
