Pros: Good network and connection times. In flight entertainment
Cons: Sloppy irritable cabin crew, appalling food.
The Bottom Line: With a little more effort by the cabin crew and a lot more effort on the food, they would deserve their reputation.

| polevs's Full Review: Malaysia Airlines |
I flew from Heathrow to Kuala Lumpur and then on to Kota Kinabalu, Borneo. Basically there was nothing fundamentally wrong with the flight. It was however, far from exciting or inspiring. The cabin crew gave the usual pleasant smiles on entering the aircraft but sadly, this was about the only time they did smile.
The seat back televisions are a great asset on a 14 hour flight- if they work. The first seat I sat in had a blank screen. I moved to another seat. The television worked but the headset socket did not. I asked to be moved again but the steward refused stating that there were no more empty seats. I moved myself two rows back to an empty seat with a fully operating entertainment system.
I settled down to watch a movie, while taking in the mouthwatering smells wafting through the cabin from the Galley. When our first meal was served, I was starved. When I finished it I was still starved. I have been greatly impressed in past few years at how the quality and quantity of airline food has improved. Sadly, Malaysian seem to have lost their way. A tray of solidified pasta with chunks of chewy chicken, a cold chewy bread roll and and a mushy fruit salad. This had to sustain you for about 7 hours until the next 'meal' was served. When it did arrive, it was the same culinary standard as the previous dish. It was returned half eaten. Obviously the delicious smells before meal times was food prepared for the benefit of business and first class passengers only
Drinks were served on board, but only before meals. Any others you just had to find a member of cabin crew and plead. If you were lucky, on the third try, you may have got one in a good mood and your drink was, if somewhat grudgingly, forthcoming.
On a positive note, all my flights were on time. The on board entertainment system, with up to the minute movies and an inbuilt Nintendo games system were a real boon. The check-in staff were all very friendly and helpful. The staff of KL airport were also a great help. To the first time user the airport can seem to be a maze with no exit. However, with a couple of questions I was soon going in the right direction.
