Air France is "OK"

Pros: Nice service; comfortable seats; 2 meals served
Cons: Charles de Gaule airport; late take off; misplaced luggage; short connections
The Bottom Line: Fly with AirFrance if the price is good but check out the connecting times. Flights within Europe are considered domestic and the terminals are far away from International terminals.

I flew with Air France on July 25, 2005 from JFK to Rome. The flight was about 45 min - 1 hour delayed taking off. This was not necessarily their fault but it caused the group I was with (about 47 people) to miss the connecting flight in Paris to Rome. They were extremely nice and someone from the airline met our group in the airport and they did their best to accommodate us with later flights (all 47 of us ended up on 3 different flights) but I ended up with a 6 hours layover in Paris. (Definately not enough time to go into town and see anything.) The airline did give us vouchers for a sandwich and drink while we waited for our flight.
Charles De Gaulle airport is insane. But I didn't realize how insane until the return flight.
On the return flight, our entire group was concerned about the short connection and informed the check in desk in Rome. Fortunately, they must have listened to us because when we landed in Paris to catch our international flight there was someone waiting and escorted us thru the airport. We certainly would not have been able to figure out the convoluted way our escort took us (and that was the shortcut thru "authorized personnel" areas). Regardless, our plane was on the runway when we finally got thru security and we had to be bussed out. The plane left over an hour late because of the short connection.
The food and service was very good; although they were a little slow about picking up trash after the food service.
I also have to complain about the big black boxes that were under the center seats on the side aisles. Gave no leg room. On the bright side, private screens for movies and comfortable seats.
