I flew from London to Geneva on British Airways (BA) economy class. I also purchased a one way ticket for my sister from Geneva to London.
Purchasing the ticket was easy. One pleasant surprise is that the one way ticket was only $110. Until recently a one way ticket would have been astronomical at at least $300. Because of competition from Easyjet BA have to now also offer reasonable one way fares.
BA flights at Heathrow depart from the new Terminal 5 building which is beautiful and a pleasure to fly from. I connected in London from an American (AA) flight. It took me 1 1/4 hours to get from my plane to the BA gate after passing security and taking a bus from Terminal 3.
The Airbus aircraft was very comfortable and pleasant. The crew were pleasant. Before boarding you have a wonderful xhoice of British newspapers.
The flight took 1 1/2 hours and we were served a delicious Cheddar and Chutney sandwich as well as a chicken curry sandwich. Also a tasty chocolate bar. On our return flight the same.
Unfortunately due to heavy losses BA are effective September 1st eliminating food on board its aircraft on flights less than 2 1/2 hours in duration. They will not even be selling food unlike Easyjet who do.
On our return to London check in was self service. The machine was easy to use but I received somebody elses boarding card for a KLM flight so we had to check in with an Agent.
BA charge $50 for a second suitcase which I find astronomical. Easyjet just charge $18 per suitcase or $36 for 2. The Agent wanted to charge me the $50 but I reminded him that my ticket was issued in the USA And I was travelling through on to the US. Travel to the US allows 2 suitcases. He told me that because I was "stopping over" in London I would have to pay. He then checked and told me that I would not have to pay. Excess luggage is charged if your suitcase is over 23 kilos or 51 pounds. BA participate in the AA frequent flyer and give AA Miles except for flights to the USA. On discounted tickets however they do not give full miles unlike the US airlines.
I would highly recommend BA for short flights inside Europe. But now that they are reducing the level of service I would seriously consider Easyjet. They both seem to offer the same air fares.
