Chances are, if you're taking Finnair, you're going pretty far. You're going on vacation. You want to arrive in a good mood because you are where ever you are to enjoy yourself. There is little worse than arriving for a fun vacation feeling groggy and gross.
Finnair made the best of my 8 hour flight to Russia. Everything seemed above average. The flight attendants were all very nice and helpful. The food was very good for airline food. It was actually good enough that I would have eaten it off of an airplane with no complaints.
The service was good. Whenever I needed something it was brought immediately. The pilot kept us informed of the time to our destination and other information.
The time went by quickly. I flew coach, so the seat was by no means luxurious, but it was comfortable. They played two movies, and both were fairly recent and good. The have air-radio stations that you can choose from and listen to on the headphones provided.
The most important things to me on airplanes are safety and cleanliness. Everything seemed very fresh and new. Even the bathrooms were very clean. I definitely felt safe on Finnair.
I was a bit annoyed at having a long layover in Helsinki, but it turned out to be a good thing. If you have enough time, I would suggest walking around in the city or taking a tour on a bus. The city isn't extremely exciting, but it was a nice place to take a break from planes and airports.
I would definitely recommend Finnair.
