Perfect for travelling to central America

Pros: Extensive network within Central America.
Cons: none that I can think of.
The Bottom Line: Provides extensive and inexpensive service to central and south America. Clean aircraft and friendly staff.

We had a group of 65 people travel from Washington D.C to Manugua,Nicarugua in August 2003. Our travel logistics team selected TACA to provide service to our destination. When i was told we were using TACA I immediately asked "Who?" as i had never heard of them despite flying through North America several times in the last few years.
After some research I discovered that TACA had an extensive network throughout central and southern America and had one of the newest fleets of aircraft.
Upon arriving in D.C we went through the process of checking in, going through security and proceeding to the gate. We rode one of Dulles' transport buses to the plane as TACA does not have a gate at the airport. Rather they have the plane parked on the tarmac about 1/2 mile away. Once I entered the plane it looked like most others i had seen and the legroom was pretty good. Being over 6 feet high I consider leg room very important.
The flight was uneventful and the service was good, I was quite satsified. It may not have had the extra service some airlines offer but this is not a high frills airline either. The food was quite simple and only they only offered one choice (a ham and cheese wrap) but i was moist, tasty and much better than most airline food i have been served.
The connection in San Salvador was simple as it was a Hub for the airline and the remaining flight to Managua was fine.
I would recommend this airline to anyone travelling to central or south America, particularly to cities that U.S based airlines do not serve. TACA offers a clean, friendly service and an airline i would certainly use again. It is also well suited to groups as they will hold flights due to delays if needed.
