Pros: Fly out of Oakland not SFO
Cons: None
The Bottom Line: I would definitely fly them again. In this day of long waits at airports, flying in and out of Oakland instead of SFO is worth its weight in gold!

| sierrra's Full Review: Aloha Airlines |
We are long time United flyers (premier at one point) with lots of mileage so always buy economy tickets and use miles to upgrade. We were going to Kona, Hawaii Thanksgiving week and knew it would be difficult, if not impossible, to upgrade three seats using miles. RT economy fare on United was $960 and I would have to be waitlisted for upgrades. I called Aloha and for $57 more, we could fly first class OUT OF OAKLAND!!! (SFO is a nightmare!). When I called to book, they asked me if I had AAA and said I get a 10% discount - usually, you have to know about the discount and not rely on the airline to provide it for you. Check in was easy and priority boarding is always nice when traveling with a child. The food was excellent and service great. First class seats are comparable to business class on most airlines but when you are traveling with a 6'6" spouse, any extra room is welcomed. The flight attendants were very friendly and paid special attention to my son, giving him extra chocolate and macadamia nuts. Boarding in Hawaii for return trip was a little more chaotic but, again, it was the Saturday after Thanksgiving and we knew it would be crazy. The return flight was uneventful with the same great service.
Obviously, the economy fare on United (or other airlines) will usually be significant less than first class on Aloha but if you are quoted a lot for a RT economy ticket to Hawaii, it would pay to check Aloha.
