I flew round trip from Burbank airport in Los Angeles to Fort Lauderdale for a family situation. The flight leaving Burbank was cancelled and everything was helter-skelter. Instead of leaving at 8:30pm I was put on a shuttle bus that flew down the highway to LAX airport (which I was trying to avoid in the first place) and left to fend for myself with a voucher to use at Continental airlines that left the next morning at 1am and connected thru Houston. I only arrived about 5 hours late....
Then returning, the flight from FLL left about one half hour late. Also I was seated next to a very young child traveling alone. I suppose this 6 year old's mom was told that the flight attendants would be watching her. Well, checking on her every two hours is not watching. I became SuperNanny - making sure she was fed, watered, bathroomed, played with, comforted, etc. They were VERY negligent with that child. When she asked for a snack - the flight attendant asked her "Have you got any money?" The man next to me and a father of six bellowed :"She's a child traveling alone for Christ's sake, just GIVE it to her!" When we landed in Phoenix (late) everyone got up to get off - the lights and air conditioning were off and people were out of their seats. Everyone STOOD for one half hour because the ground crew could not figure out how to attach the tunnel that leads from the terminal to the plane door. I missed my connecting flight by just minutes - they didn't bother to let the connecting America West flights know that the plane was there... and was put on a flight back to Burbank airport for THE NEXT MORNING. Now I was only 15 hours late...
Oh, and did I mention that for $5 the sandwich that they sell you was stale... and when I asked for a paper plate or napkin to eat on, the flight attendant - waitress in the sky said they did't have such things. I feed my dog in nicer style and I don't charge him $5.
