Pros: Competitive Prices
Cons: Less than superior service
The Bottom Line: If AA is the cheapest, choose it, but you will probably get better service on other airlines.

My wife and I recently flew to Mexico City from Dallas on American Airlines (Flight 433). We regularly fly to Mexico and always choose the lowest fare. We found a great deal on Expedia.com for American Airlines.
There were multiple disappointments with our flight experience. I call them disappointments because the most important thing was that we arrived in Mexico City safely and that should always be the priority. Here they are (listed in the order of importance to me):
1. I have traveled to several countries around the world, including multiple trips to Mexico City, and this was the first time that the flight crew did not give out immigration forms and instructions. We usually fly Continental to Mexico City via Houston and we always get the forms and the flight crew helps give instructions in English and Spanish. Not only did the flight crew not give out the forms, they were rather rude when the person in front of us asked for them. This inconvenience made our customs experience more stressful.
2. My seat was broken. With any pressure, the seat would recline. The reclining button was stuck in. American Airlines advertises more room, but honestly, I didn't notice a significant increase in space. With this marketing claim I would expect seats that work and a significant increase in space.
3. The flight left Dallas 25 minutes late. This wasn't a big deal because it is so common.
4. No Meal. This was our first time flying to Mexico City without a meal. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the fork and knife icon on the ticket indicated that there would be a meal on the flight. Again, no big deal, but disappointing.
I now understand why American Airlines is having financial problems. I have had several experiences with American Airlines in the past three years, but most were more than two years ago. I didn't have these disappointments on other flights. Maybe they are cutting costs now.
Minor services do make a difference in customer satisfaction. I'm probably not the only customer AA has lost.
