| JiggyJay's Full Review: American Airlines |
Now, just to warn you, I'm a music/movie/video game writer and I have no experience in this kind of writing. I just wanted to give it a shot.
American Airlines is good only if you need cheap tickets fast. If you have months and months to schedule, please go to another airline company because AA sucks. Well, they don't suck, they have good headrests that you can adjust at anytime so that while you're watching a movie or trying to sleep, you can rest your head in the position that you find most comfortable.
Also the seats are comfy and you have a lot of leg room (which is always a good thing if you're on a 4-6 hour flight) so that you can stretch. The people in front of you will be jerks though. The chairs recline way too far back. I found myself halfway through the flight from Seattle to Housten very uncomfortable because the dude in front of me was reclined back to the fullest and I was practically kissing his chair and my book was getting bent because it was so much in my face.
The movies that they show on their flights also suck. I watched (and by watched, I mean only watched because they were selling cheap headphones for $5.00 each and the left side, which I was on, of the plane's radio thingy wasn't working) "Blue Crush" and "Possession" (both were centered on a female audience mostly). They should have a variety of movies that both genders would like.
I don't remember whether it was AA or another one that had Bistro Bags, but they suck. Once you show your I.D., you go to this cart and pick a bag of food and take it with you on the flight. In the bag is a cold, crappy sandwich along with a bag of chips, cookie, and carrots (or something of the sort). These are not filling and even worse, they don't have good quality. They suck. What happened to hot lunches that were here in the yester-year?
A cool thing (that's only COOL) is the movie moniters that drop down from overhead two or so rows ahead of you in each thing. It's pretty cool to watch it go up and down (when your bored), but they have horrible quality. The picture is fuzzy and there's always glare (even when your..uh..crewmates close their blinds). The color is really messed up, too. When something's supposed to be blue--it's purple. It sucks.
The only real thing that I liked about AA is the service. The flight attendents are nice and respectful and they are just all around nice people. You can ask them any kind of question and they will immediately answer with the right response. For example, I asked politely if the flight attendent could tell the person in front of me to recline up so that I wasn't kissing his seat, and she did it--no questions asked.
Another gripe: beverages. Horizon Airlines (West Coast) gives you the whole can when you order a 7Up or a Pepsi, but AA doesn't. Why is that? AA is richer and more famous. Are they cheapskates? I think so. AA only gives you a cup full and that's it--unless you want to bother the flight attendent and ask for another glass.
Also, when you get to your destination, there is always tons of waiting for your baggages. It's stupid how you wait for so long doing nothing but twidling your thumbs.
American Airlines is OKAY, but if you want a quality flight that you can be most comfortable and have the luxeries of royalty, avoid AA at all costs. Thanks for reading and feel free to give your feedback on my review. Thanks!
