My least favorite part of flying was always getting squashed into a corner by the people around you and then having the person in front of me put their seat back. I never understood how anyone who was claustrophobic could stand it.
I flew home for Thanksgiving and not only did I have no trouble with crowds or overbooking during holiday rush travel, but I could move! American has done a great job of spacing the coach seats out further so that it is now possible to move your feet. It made all the difference in the world to me.
Also American serves their meals bistro style which means that you are handed a small bag when you board the plane. The food is quite palatable contrary to stereotypes of airline food. This makes it easy to eat when you wish and not just when the turbulence allows the flight attendants to push the cart up the aisle. It is not hot food of course, but I think that is a small price to pay for the added convenience.
I was so pleased I will be flying with them again at Christmas!
