| freecashzone's Full Review: American Airlines |
When I was a kid, we used to travel on American Airlines all the time, and I though it was great fun. I got a winged pin and I always enjoyed the free peanuts and hot meals eatable with funny-shaped silverware.
Now, however, as an adult, the seats have somehow shrunk, the meals have been replaced with cold bagged lunches, and the peanuts have been entirely eliminated. Yes, I am speaking of none other that coach class on American Airlines. I suppose close seats are now the norm, and meals are rather extravagant in general, but airline quality has gone down since commercial flying first began.
Though they are generally on-time, when they are not, American tends to really let you know it. Delays turn from minutes into hours, and the employees are not always friendly, (especially in foreign countries). Sometimes they will go out of their way to please you, and other times one feels like dirt under their heavy boots.
I have found that ticket prices are competitive with other airlines, and their frequent flyer program is pretty good. The only bad spot in this area is the difficulty in getting a good flight when redeeming these "free" miles. Sometimes you have to route though half a dozen cities before your final destination.
Overall an O.K. airline, but I say... better take the train :)
