Pros: inexpensive
Cons: not plush
The Bottom Line: Most of the hassle was not ATA's fault or within their control. Go in eyes open and don't expect too much. A to B travel, not a lot more.

Thanks to Epinions I was expecting a huge, ugly, dirty nighmtmare of a trip to Hawaii from SFO. I was happy that it wasn't that bad. The check in 3 hours before a 7:50 am departure was a little tough, but not ATA's fault. Travelling with 6 in our party, 4 kids, it actually went pretty easily. I asked for and got a seat with more legroom (I'm 6'5") and I figured I can lump anything for 5 hours. The food was a little rough, but is that ATA's fault, isn't ALL airplane food nasty? I don't fly to eat good food. The movie was lame, Serendipity, but I bet is was just as lame in a large fancy movie theater. The staff on our flight there was better than on our return, I actually told the staff on our outbound flight that due to Epinions I was expecting the worst and was pleasantly surprised. There was one grouchy steward on the flight, but again I think I would be grouchy if I were a steward on an airline....
The return from Maui to SFO was not as smooth as the arrival flight. There were 2 marching bands from the bay area on board with tons of instruments and a little rowdy, still not ATA's fault. The baggage claim took FOREVER, we got our bags exactly and hour after arriving at the gate, largely due to the full flight and numerous tubas and drum sets packed into the plane. Not ATA's fault, at least ATA makes trips like this to Hawaii affordable for school groups to make. The return crew had scowls on their face most of the time, but 250 high schoolers might do that to you.
Both legs of the trip were on time and we arrived safely.
I was happy, knowing that I got what I paid for.
