Pros: Newer equipment, Best "On Time" record of US Carriers, Pleasant & Helpful staff.
Cons: My not always be the cheapest, but Hey...Sometimes it's worth spending a bit more.
The Bottom Line: With today's busy airports and crowded planes, Continental Airlines, for my money, does the best job of getting me where I need to go, on time & in comfort!

I don't fly every week, or even every month, but I do take an average of 5 to 6 flights within the US and 1 to 2 overseas each year. With regards to the international flights, I've flown on British Airways, Air France, Sabena, Spanair, Iberia, American, United and Continental. Nationally, there aren't many I haven't tried. I generally fly coach and am very active in securing the best available seating. I always research all available flights and book my own air travel, often online. In my experience, Continental Airlines stands head & shoulders above the other MAJOR(those serving the entire country)US Carriers. Their equipment is newer and nicer and their on-time record better. In addition, they haven't been plagued with the personnel problems (disgruntled employees) others such as United & Delta have experienced. I have also found them to be creative in their attempts to find alternatives to using the overburderned major hubs. For example, in my region most Airlines use DFW, Atlanta or Denver as "Hubs", while Continental elects to use Houston Intercontinental. This is a much less crowded and lower-utilized airport, and I have rarely been delayed when going through it. It may seem a bit "out of the way" to first fly to Houston when traveling from Oklahoma City to New York or Seattle, but the added convenience & less-crowded conditions afforded by the Houston airport are well worth the extra 30 to 45 minutes of flight time. As is true in most situations, I find that a kind word and a friendly demeanor goes a lot further toward resolving difficulties than does nagging & complaining. On one recent flight, I was in line behind an abusive traveler who berated the check-in agent over a weather-caused flight delay. After she was turned away without any resolution to her problem, I expressed my regret over the way she treated the agent and told him I appreciated his attempts to help out in a difficult situation. I walked away with seats on another flight that departed in just 30 minutes. Kindness pays! My advice to travelers is to keep in mind that the skies are becoming more and more crowded. Give yourself plenty of time, both prior to departure and between connecting flights. Most passengers arrive about an hour before departure and lines can get long. Try to arrive an extra 30 minutes early, check in and relax with a cup of coffee and something to read. If you do find you've missed a connecting flight, go to the nearest phone and re-book through the phone reservation agent, rather than fighting the crowd in line. All airlines will experience problems from time to time, but Continental, in my experience, does the best job of getting me where I need to go in comfort and with the least amount of hassle.
