| dana1234's Full Review: Delta Air Lines |
I recently flew Delta for a trip to the state of Washington to see my sister. I had been planning this trip for months, and was so excited to be going for a visit. I normally fly other airlines but I got a cheaper price with Delta so I thought I would give them a try. I have lived to regret that!
The flight from Indy to Cincinnati was very uneventful. Fine, things were going well. The flight from Cincinnati to Salt Lake City was not as good. They overbooked our flight and spent 35 minutes trying to convince three people to give up their seats. That made our departure over 40 minutes behind schedule! They also had 10 seats open in first class and were offering upgrades for $100. But guess what they were only offering them to select people who had a certain code on their ticket. So most of the first class tickets remained empty and they still had to bump 3 people from the flight.
We got to Salt Lake City behind schedule enough that most people had either missed or were about to miss their connecting flight. When we got into Salt Lake we couldn't pull up to the gate. And apparently, Delta had no available gates so we sat in the runway for another 20 minutes. Thus even more people missed their connecting flight.
Well, I was relieved that I made my connection only because the gate was right across from the other gate. So I got onto my connecting plane so relieved that the nightmare was finally over. Haha!
I went to the baggage claim and my bags weren't there! And there were at least 10 other people missing their bags as well! When we went to the ticket counter to report our stuff missing we were treated very rudely. We were told that the airlines priority was to get US from Point A to Point B, not necessarily our bags so that they had done their job and it would be a minimum of 48 hours until they were able to locate my luggage! We were also told that the planes that flew into the airport were small and so they had to make sure that the current passengers on that plane got their luggage first.
When I was finally able to get through to Delta's baggage claim center on the telephone I was told that they had LOST 8,000 bags in Salt Lake City! And their machine was broken so they were having to go through them all by hand. I was told that I would probably not got my bags before I had to go home. So here I am 3,000 miles away from home with only the clothes I'm wearing for a whole week but that's supposed to be okay because hey I made it their safely! I then told them that I would NEVER fly Delta again, so they offered me a $25 travel voucher. I laughed so hard I almost cried. I said I would never being flying with them again, so that the $25 would do me no good. I was then told that all of the other airlines were having the same problems and that I would be just as dissatisfied with them. NEWSFLASH Delta! I have flown other airlines and I have never in my life had any of these problems. It's all because of you, your airline is horrible!
As of today, I'm still in Washington with no bags, no clothes, no toiletries and no promises from Delta. UGH.
