I recently had to fly across the United States and decided on Delta, due the departure times they had that met my needs. I looked around at several different sites looking for the best price in tickets, I finally found them at www.delta.com they were offering an online special at 40% off, and I was able to get my tickets for the price I was looking for.
Since I bought on line they sent me an E-ticket, which means a piece of paper with my confirmation on it. All I needed for check in, was my drivers license, or other form of I.D., and they gave me my boarding passes. I did show the skycap my paper when I checked in the first time, but for the return flight the lady said she didn't it, just my I.D..
Check in was so quick and easy, we rode a shuttle over from our hotel, that dropped us off at an outside baggage check, so we checked our luggage and got our boarding passes at one stop.
One thing I really was impressed with was the fact the flight deck (pilot area) kept us informed of what was going on. One of our departures, we taxied out to the run way, but had to go to a different one after we got there, and I liked because the flight deck let us know what we doing, we didn't have to wonder why we were going to a different run way to leave. They also kept us informed as to how high we would be flying, what we would be flying over & how long in air time our flight would take.
We had a 4 hour flight, so they offered a movie. The movie screen was small T.V.'s hanging from the roof of the plane, with head phones that you plugged into your seat. The only problem I had with this is that they charged you $5.00 for the headphones. After the movie was over, you were given free headphones, and were able to watch an episode of a sitcom (Becker, Frasier & Friends were the one's we saw). You got to see one episode, then they had CNN interviews, music videos. You were also able to turn to music if you didn't want to watch T.V.
We also were offered Dinner on one of our flights. It was very yummy and feeling. They offered steak or chicken, I choose steak, which came with potatoes, green beans, salad, & cake for dessert. They also had beverages: soft drink, juice, & water to choose from. After dinner we were also given a snack, which was a drink & a package of a nut mix.
We had 2 layovers on the flight out to our destination and one on the way home, all take off's and landings were very nice, no rough landings at all.
