Pros: nifty Christian sayings under their trays...and good value.
Cons: that whole "cash only" line thing...the system can't handle complex transactions.
The Bottom Line: Alaska is OK. Not great, but OK.

| erinpdx77's Full Review: Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan |
I have amassed 40,000 miles on Alaska. It is the only mileage plan I have and I have eagerly awaited redeeming those miles. We have 40,000 and two travelers trying to get from Portland Oregon to Boston for a wedding this summer. I need to make a half cash, half miles purchase. And I have been on hold for 16 minutes and 23...24...25...26 seconds trying to do so.
I am pretty internet savvy. I logged into my account and attempted to buy the trip at the normal 25,000 rate only to find that there were no "awards seats" available. "No problem!" I thought I could just cash in on the "Peak" awards system and buy the flight I wanted. Instead of paying 25,000 miles for a limited seat, you can buy ANY coach seat for 40,000 miles. Only there is no apparent way to do that. The nice lady from the 1-877 number assured me I could do it. And being enterprising and young and full of vim and vigor, I decided to give it a try. And I swear on my college educated butt, I couldn't figure it out. So I called back, and now it has been 19 minutes and 55...56...i got an operator.
hold please.
I'm not stupid...just trying to do a complicated maneuver on an uncomplicated system. So, you know when you go to the grocery store with $20 cash and buy $37 worth of groceries, and you pay $20 with cash and the balance with your card. Can't do that here. I have to book one flight on awards, and one flight on cash, and PRAY that i can get both flights to come up on the search engines....so my honey and I can fly together.
