| txgonzo's Full Review: Southwest Rapid Rewards |
Free flights seem like an impossible task. Remember the saying, "You never really get anything free, it really comes at a cost somewhere". But with Southwest's frequent flyer program, this is almost true!
I started their program in 1995. I had just been promoted and started doing regular in-state travel as part of my promotion. Well Southwest was one of the few airlines to offer good rates and frequent flights to my destinations. So since I was going to be using them anyway, I joined their program.
Well after just eight round trip flights, I received a free round trip ticket. Boy, was I overjoyed and amazed! They started to come in faster and more than I expected when I first joined.
Other airlines make you get points, which seem like it will take you forever and a lifetime to get free flights. But with Southwest you just have to do a few flights to get your reward.
They have changed it a little since then. Now it takes more flights to achieve your free flights. And a good point, they have added a feature where you can get credits with car rentals and hotel stays at selected sites. Also with their internet reservation system you can get double credit if you order on line
So if you don't care about assigned seating and on-flights meals, sign up fast!
