I normally don't rate other airlines because I am an airline pilot. I have had the opportunity to fly on jetBlue many times. The service has always been top notch and I thought this airline was worth mentioning. The company has five core values. They are safety, passion, caring, integrity, and fun. You see this in everyone from the gate agents to the baggage handlers to the flight crews.
I have to mention a review of this airline by another "pilot". This "pilot" stated his concern about the low hours in the type of aircraft at jetBlue. This person could not be less accurate in his assumptions. It is true jetBlue does not require Airbus A320 experience, but most of their pilots come from major airlines and have flown the Airbus family airplanes. They usually have as much experience as major airline pilots. NO airline requires their pilots to have prior experience in the exact airplane that they will be flying.
As far as this "pilot's" experience on jetBlue, he is probably mistaken. He stated, "On landing at Fort Lauderdale it was a clear day with light wind coming out of the east and the pilot made a missed approach (had to circle again for the runway). He came on the intercom and claimed that there was traffic on the runway. NONSENSE... I had a good view of the runway on final approach and there was no traffic. I am a pilot and actually made a comment to my fellow passenger saying that he is too high and too fast." If this passenger was in fact on final approach, no matter where he was sitting in the aircraft, unless it was the cockpit, he would not have been able to see the runway in question. As far as the speed goes, I was not there but the Airbus has an approach speed of about 140mph. This is probably faster than the overall airspeed of the aircraft that this person has experience with, no offense, but it is just a lack of knowledge and experience on this "pilots" part. I would feel safe with my entire family on any jetBlue flight.
In conclusion, I feel that jetBlue is a safe, fun and inexpensive airline that is going to be a major contender in the airline industry.
