Don't forget they are a low-cost carrier for a reason

Pros: JetBlue handled the refund of the flight effortlessly.

The scenario: A predicted snowstorm was going to hit Boston around noon on Friday. We have a confirmed flight at 9am. We arrive at the airport at 7:30am. When we wake up it is a cold gray morning. nothing unusual for March.
When we arrived, we find that after we went to bed the night before they had canceled all JetBlue flights into Boston. No phone call and no email (although both pieces of information were in our record locater).
Here is the most important part -- be careful about Jet Blue canceled flights. Unlike the "major carriers", they do NOT have agreements to rebook flights with other carriers when their flights are canceled. As a result we were nearly stranded and out all of the money we had already spent on our trip (including conference fees and hotel reservations, which totaled much more than the cost of the airfare)
While the mess was going on, there was no customer service -- the gate agents wouldn't help, and 1-800-JET-BLUE would answer and just hang up.
I believe that this is partly because of their new (misguided) "Passenger Bill of Rights" policy to refund tickets if they cancel within twelve hours. So rather than waiting to observe the actual weather (the snow started falling around noon) they just don't even try. And without the rebooking agreements, their (soon to be former) customers are stuck without options.
And not informing us compounded the problem. If 9am was going to cut it close on the storm, we would have gladly taken the 6:30 am scheduled flight.
The good news is that we did make it to Washington DC on a US Airways flight around noon (actually several flights made it out at and before that time), as the snow started to fall.
