Pros: Overall good value- inexpensive, good service and a TV right in front of you...
Cons: doesn't fly at some common airports and need to pay for some upgrades
The Bottom Line: Overall, Jet Blue is great bang for the buck! Inexpensive, good service, and timely flights! Time also flys by fast with your personal TV--free of charge!

$89 to Boston to Fort Lauderdale during the Christmas Chaos and Jet Blue had me saying "where do I sign"? The best deal in town especially during the holiday period. I have flown Jet Blue a few times now (mostly from Boston to California) and every time there's a consistent theme: a satisfied traveler. I booked online and had my confirmation e-mailed to me. I opted to check-in at the airport instead of doing it online at home beforehand like they offer. There are many self-check stations, which are easy to use-- just make sure you have your confirmation number, credit card number or TruBlue member card handy. If you need assistance you can check in the good old fashioned way as well utilizing JetBlue employees, who are also helpful and friendly.
Last time I flew JetBlue, I went with a friend who never flew JetBlue before. After the flight, he simply said "I never want to fly with anyone else". Personally, I think he was sold with the 36 channels of Direct TV on flight and the unlimited free snacks. A flight can go by fast when you have your own personal TV and remote in front of you. However, make sure you bring your own headsets because JetBlue is now charging $1 for them-- but you do get to keep the headsets, so it's handy for future flights if you don't own any. Also, JetBlue only accepts credit cards-- no cash. Also, there is a credit card swipe next to each TV if you'd like to purchase an in-flight movie. I believe they are 5 dollars each and there are usually 3-4 choices. The last few times I flew JetBlue the flight only lasted 3 hours so they did not offer the movie option- typically for longer flights. However, you can always flip the channels to see if you can catch a movie there. There's also XM radio so you can listen to whatever songs you'd like if you'd rather listen to music, which is also free.
Also, every time I have flown JetBlue, my flight has typically been on time and usually 15-30 early!! Gotta love arriving early! There were two instances that this was not the case but I wasn't fazed because time #1 there was a blizzard in Boston which delayed me a few hours and time #2 there was a mechanical error on the plane they could not figure out so we were placed on a new plane (but we got free movies, so naturally I was fine).
A downside of JetBlue is that they are not at every destination, so they may not be flying to an area that you'd like to go. However, they may be at a nearby airport, so it might be worth looking to see if it's worth paying for a bus, train, etc to get you to your ideal location... if the price is right.
Also, if it is a long flight I would recommend eating beforehand and packing a sandwich if you think you'll be hungry. They do offer a snack pack for longer flights, but peanuts and terra chips probably won't do the trick for a 7 hour flight or however long it might be. The good thing about JetBlue is that they do offer unlimited snacks free of charge. They also offer free drinks as well, and you do need to pay for alcoholic beverage (around $5-- might be credit card only but I am not sure).
If you are expecting a luxury flight I would recommend a different airline. You’re not going to get luxury, especially when your only paying $99 for a flight. However, if you do enjoy more space, you do have the option of extra legroom for $15 more. I personally did not choose that option so I cannot tell you if it is worth it. I was fine in my general seat as a 5’7 female. Overall, JetBlue is a great choice if you want to make it to your destination in a fast and simple manner. JetBlue is your basic airline that satisfies your basic needs in an above and beyond kind of way. And great bang for the buck.
