Unbelievable!
We live 30 minutes from O'Hare, and a little over 90 minutes from Milwaukee. I read about Midwest Express both on epinions and the Wall Street Journal. My wife and I have had many a bad flight experience, so we decided to drive the extra hour last weekend for our flight out to Atlanta.
Although it may be unfair to rate airlines based on their airport and terminal, driving right up to parking, walking just a few dozen feet to the counter, and having an agent help us quickly was a pretty unusual experience for us. If you can fly out of O'Hare, it's DEFINITELY worth the extra 60 minutes to drive up to Milwaukee! You'll make the time back just in parking your vehicle and not having to waiting in line at the counter.
The flight itself was just as advertised, tremendous! The plane really is all first class (well maybe business class, but certainly a world apart from coach). The two-across seating is great for me (I'm not a featherweight), and even the wider aisles are nice when you've got to go.
The food was much, much better than you'll get in coach on any other airline. Although it wasn't 5-star restaurant quality, it was good food, and it actually filled us up. On the way out, they served us breakfast: eggs benedict, fresh fruit, warm muffin, yogurt+granola, and juice. On the way back it was lunch: ham and cheese sandwiches, fresh fruit, and of course, FRESHLY BAKED CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES!
Even the flight attendants were more courteous than most. Overall, a delightful experience. My wife, who hates to fly, is actually looking forward to our trip down to Florida in a couple of days.
If you're like me (a bigger person who hates to be crammed into coach), or like my wife (who hates flying altogether), give Midwest Express a try!
