I recently flew on a Southwest flight that took 19 minutes and cost $24 - what a deal! Even if you fly greater distances, the fares are very cheap, and there are usually great internet specials if you keep your eyes open. Southwest sends a e-mail to subscribers with bargain deals each week if you sign up - I recommend this.
Southwest generally flies out of smaller airports, i.e. - Fort Lauderdale, BWI, Islip NY, Providence, and Manchester. If you can get yourself to a smaller airport, it is definitely worth it.
I have never had a problem with any Southwest staff, be it ticketing agents, phone agents, or flight attendants. There is generally a quick check-in, but Southwest does not assign seats. You get your boarding pass at the gate, so first come, first serve. The first person on the plane gets to choose their seat.
I have never been on a Southwest flight with a movie, and they often do not serve meals, but this is not a big deal - you can wait until you get to your destination.
The planes are not usually cleaned between flights - you might find someone else's refuse in your seat pocket, but is this a real problem? I think if you are paying such a small amount, you can deal.
