Pros: The food going to Germany was great. Service in both directions was excellent.
Cons: My flight left me with bruised knees and a painful lower back.

I just returned from a transatlantic flight on United Airlines, round trip from Dulles International to Germany. This was the most uncomfortable flight I have ever experienced. The seating in United's economy section is so tight that my knees were up against the seat in front of me the entire trip. When the passenger in front of me reclined his seat the only way to escape the pain was to sit with my knees slanted sideways. The seats were so narrow, I could only hope my neighbors on either side would not mind either my rear end or my knees protruding into their space. After hours of sitting sideways, shifting from side to side, with knees against the seat in front of me, my lower back joined my knees in pain. The experience was miserable. The morning after my flight my knees were black and blue. I am not that tall - 5'10". I will never fly United Airlines again!
