| JYD4Life's Full Review: Spirit Air |
I have been a flyer of Northwest Airlines all my life. Someone else was asked to get travel arrangements for me. They did not select Northwest however. They chose Spirit. Automatically, I did not want to take Spirit b/c I've flown Northwest all my life. I didn't have a choice so I had to take Spirit.
My first, only, and last experience as a Spirit flyer was not very good at all. I will not fly Spirit again because of what happened.
Here's the story..
We arrive at Detroit Metro airport an hour early like you are supposed to. I check my bags, get my boarding pass, and head to the gate where I will board the plane. We were sitting there and another flight was boarding. My mother went and looked at the board that tells travelers what time their boarding time and flight departure is. Ours wasn't up there. She said this to me when she came back and the nice people across from us told us that our flight was delayed. 2 HOURS. The lady that checked my bags didn't tell us this. Why not? Shouldn't she know? I think so. So our flight was delayed 2 hours without anyone knowing. WE get on the plane and we go about normal flying routine.
Now we have landed in NY. The pilot comes over the PA and tells us that we have to wait until a gate opens up so we can get off. We have to be taxied in b/c the area is too tight for a plane to fly. We sat on the runway waiting for a spot for 45 minutes. It shouldn't have taken that long. Not only that, we only got drinks on the plane.
Ok, it's time to return home. Nothing can be as bad as the arrival. Boy, was I wrong. They board the plane on-time and I am on the plane by 4:10 p.m. 4:30 p.m. comes along and that is our departure time. "Ok folks, we cannot leave yet b/c the crew put the luggage in wrong and they have to take it out and even up the weight. 5 o'clock rolls around and they are still moving the luggage. We lose power. None of the crew decides to tell us what is going on and when we ask, they say that the captain is coming on the PA and to hold on. Now we get power back, and by the way, we have no air and it is like 80 degrees in the plane. People are passing out, babies crying. The captain comes back on and says that someone shut the power off on us and we should be leaving shortly. He starts the engines. The plan that is going to taxi us out is here. That plane breaks down and we have to wait for another plane to taxi us out. It is now 10 to 6 and we push away from the gate.
Let's see how the actual flight was...Complimentary beverages and cookies. That's it. Nothing else. We had to sit on a hot plane for 2 hours and all we get is a drink and cookies.
If you have flown Spirit all your life, continue. If you have never flown it before, DON'T.
