| unk1911's Full Review: Spirit Air |
i made the mistake of doing business with this company. i went online and found what i thought was a great deal on a flight from la guardia to fort lauderdale. the website had me jump through a few hoops, i had to fill in my credit card information, after which the site went ahead and started listeing additional prices. i thought, ok, i don't mind paying the baggage fee. ok, fine. then i clicked on next, and folks, get this, they wanted to charge me extra for the seats! at this point my eyes widened and i said to myself, there is no way in hell i'm going to let anyone do this to me. i closed my web browser and booked a flight with jetblue, which ended up being cheaper because they had no extra hidden fees.
two weeks later, i go online to check my credit card statement only to realize that i was charged for my spirit airlines flight in full. now mind you, i never consented to the ticket with spirit. i never was presented with a final screen which allowed me to confirm my reservation. they just flat out charged me for the flight before i even finished the form!
when i discovered this, i got very angry and called their customer service, which of course redirected me to their wonderful mumbai team. now don't get me wrong, i have nothing against globalization, cost custting measures, anything to bring the price down for the consumer. i don't mind it. what i do lement, is what is lost in the process. these indian johns and bobs have no soul, they live in a different world apparently, a world to which the very notion of "a customer is always right" is an alien concept that makes no sense. i talked to three different "customer support representatives". all three were completely unhelpful. all three sounded like they were robots, programmed to respond to stimuli in a specific manner, a manner that is rather unbecoming of a human. i was especially sickened to my stomach, when at the end of the call, each one of them attempted to sell me additional services. that, after me telling them that i was violated and wanted my money back.
it is unfortunate, that given the state of the economy today, perhaps there is nothing better out there, but in the rare event that there is, something better out there, i would stay away from this company, i would avoid it at all costs. they will ploy you with deals but in the end they will, to use a quote from lord of the rings, for lack of anything else, "in the darkness, bind you".
