Not Larger...smaller! (Reply to this comment)
by doug2705eads
I am going on Elation in 10 days...and have been on 37 cruises...know the risks of going on a family ship...and have risk it before. Some people just have kids...then turn em loose! I agree that many cruises never even know where they are...they just gamble (watchin spinning fruit...fun!) and smoke and go yeee haaa. But it is cold where I live, and sound very warm where they go now .. Cozumel etc. but I worry about the follies of the families and kids.
Now as to you? you said must cruise again and try a larger ship? Why? Try something like Radisson at 350 passengers...try Paul Gauguin in Tahiti...more sophisticated people...nice Internet center by fee, and calm class of ship and folks! and resort casual on this ship. Bigger could mean MORE of what you dislike!

I'm a "wired" type (information technology professional). I don't drink or gamble. But what you've described still sounds like a lot of fun to me. If I want high-tech fun, I'll stay home and surf my wireless Internet at 3.5 MBps. If I want to read a book, I'll stay home and read one. If I want peace and quiet, I'll go rent a cabin in the middle of the wilderness somewhere. I would think that a cruise is about having fun doing nothing useful. As long as folks around me have smiles on their faces, that makes even a limbo contest enjoyable to me. I'm what everybody I know calls a workaholic. I would have killed to have been aboard that voyage you took. I could have slept on the deck and I would have enjoyed every, precious moment of it. Don't waste your life like I've wasted most of mine. It's too short.

Thanks, I actually checked Epinions before booking, but there wasn't much recent info, so to help others after me, I spent quite a bit of time on my review.
It struck me that the Carnival Cruise is a vacation anacronism (sp?) developed for high-society types and not suitable for today's "wired" consumer.

Nice Review... (Reply to this comment)

I have not generally heard ecstatic comments about Carnival Cruise Lines. Your review provides a good glimpse of exactly where their priorities are these days. Hope to see more from you. Tom Barnes
