| brangans's Full Review: Carnival Paradise |
We sailed the Paradise on May 21, 2000 doing the western Caribbean itinerary. We paid $749 per person for cruise only and that included port charges. The price was a special for past Carnival passengers that included a free upgrade to best available cabin. We ended up on the Empress Deck in the middle of the ship and it was very quiet.
This was my 12th cruise with Carnival and I have to say that it was also the best cruise that I have ever taken. Everything about the cruise totally acceded my expectations and I have pretty high expectations!
We did not take any tours on the islands but did leave the boat to do stuff on our own. The people we talked to said that the tours were fabulous. The food was extremely tasty and always available. Service on every part of the ship was given with a smile, even when just passing the workers.
I used the Nautica Spa to get a haircut and that was a nice experience. It was a little pricey ($55 for a haircut and blow-dry) but I did not get the pushy service that I use to get in the past. All the services that they offered was pricey but everyone seemed to be happy when they came out.
At the end of all the cruises you are asked to fill out a comment card. What surprised us was that all our comments from past cruises seemed to have been fixed. Some of them was the pushy service in the spa, the lack of lobster, not enough crepe buffett nights, slot machines being too tight (not paying out) and of course the smoking issues. All of these problems from past cruises were not a problem at all on this cruise.
It was so nice to be able to go into all the bars and enjoy ourselves without being overcome with cigarette smoke. We are so grateful to Carnival for coming out with a non-smoking ship. We will definitely go on this ship again and would recommend it for anyone that does not smoke to try it. You will never be satisfied sailing on a smoking ship again.
