| sm1sstr's Full Review: Celebrity Mercury |
My mom and I went on a cruise recently aboard the Mercury, leaving from Ft. Lauderdale Florida. We had been on one cruise years before through Royal Caribbean, which is hard to beat. And although Celebrity didn't quite beat them, they are a very close second.
The first day we spent most of our time walking around and getting acquainted with the ship. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. With the exception of one show, they were all outstanding. Also, the additional entertainment they had aboard the ship was high class. Our meals were all fantastic. We mainly only spent our meals in the dining room for dinner. Our waiter and the head waiter were always helpful...and very inventive!!
They offered just about every type of activity aboard the ship from dancing to karaoke nights, to deck parties, lessons, there was almost nothing you couldn't do. We took a week long cruise and had 4 stops. Due to schedule some of the stops were shorter than we would have liked, but overall it was a pleasurable experience. If you ever get a chance to take a cruise you should.
Celebrity is a great cruise line to take if you have a slightly limited budget. The prices may at first sound outrageous but then you have to consider what you are getting, you are getting a room that is wonderful, all you can eat food - 24 hours a day, and you have to figure that the quality of the meals at dinner time would normally amount to $150 or so for two people, each meal. Then you have nightly shows that normal would probably cost $20-30 per person. It is an outstanding deal and a vacation that won't soon be forgotten.
