I went on the Disney Magic in August of 1998 with my extended family of about 40 people.
Since I was 20 at the time I had the special ability to access just about everything on the ship. I went to the ESPN sports bar and hung out with my older cousin as he drank his beer and watched a football game and ten minutes later I found myself in the 18 and under room hanging with my little cousins.
In the 18 and under room there was tons of board games, cds, movies, and just about anything else a teenager would need.
Fortunately my family got reservations at Palo's (the upscale resturant) by standing in line the moment we got on the ship. Believe me it was worth it. The main meal was excellent, but nothing compared to the appetizer pizzas they first served (hey give me a break I'm a college student) we even asked for seconds on the pizza. Also the deserts were nothing short of perfection.
The spa was nice, but I guess I can't really say anything about it because I really don't know much about spas.
A big concern is that the seating at meals is kinda strange. If you happen to be in a small party, the crew will most likely seat you with some other strangers on a big table, some people hate this, but for me, the 20 year old college student, I saw it as an opportunity to meet girls. (it didn't work)
Nassar, Bahamas was the biggest tourist trap i have ever seen. Please believe me because i live about five minutes away from Waikiki beach in Hawaii. We took the city tour of the island which although kinda dull gives an excellent encompassing view of the island. I learned about the generous tax system of the Bahamas and saw the ghetto areas on the tour. Also, when you get off the boat at Nassar there are vans waiting to take you on a tour, make sure you get a van that has air conditioning.
At Nassar, the many stores sell Cuban cigars like Cohibas. And when we left the ship, no one checked to see what we bought . . . . .
Disney's private island was also very nice. During lunch take lots of the ribs, they were excellent. If you have snorkel gear, take it with you because Disney has thrown lots of stuff in the bay for you to look at, but they charge something like $30 to rent a mask and snorkel. You'll need a bright green vest to wear when you snorkel because a snorkeling guy looks just like a dead guy in the water, but getting a green Disney vest at the beach is quite simple.
Someone said the cards used for money in the video game room are collectible, so grab a bunch of those.
I you like star gazing, remember to look up a few times at night.
Overall I liked the Disney cruise. There weren't many people my age on the boat, but I did enjoy the plays, the movies, and all you can eat food.
If you decide to do a park & boat combination check on the prices if you book them separately during some seasons it may actually be cheaper.
We also found that by hitting the normal parks when they opened and going to the water parks in the afternoon we could actually go through all the parks in our limited stay there.
