Pros: Service
Cons: Pool band played sang same songs every day!
The Bottom Line: RCLL certainly know how to build a ship! The Legend was absolutely out of this world and the holiday definitely lived up to 'like no vacation on earth'

| smiler2382's Full Review: Royal Caribbean Legend of the Seas |
Having been made redundant and my sister in between jobs we decided to take off for 6 weeks for a break. We flew out to New Zealand from the UK, drove 3,500 miles in 12 days taking in all of the sights then joined the Legend of the Seas in Auckland on 31st March and sailed on it for almost a month to Ensenada taking in Tahiti, Moorea (stunning), Bora Bora (lovely) and then the Hawaiian islands on route to Mexico.
We arrived in Auckland the night before sailing and on our way to drop off our hire car (we didn't think the Legend would arrive until the morning of the 31st) as the harbour came into sight I turned to Ali and said 'Oh my GOD, there's our ship! It was an amazing sight to see her sitting gloriously in the harbour, other ships and boats dwarfed by her. We dropped off the car and then went to look at her and we were so impressed! I knew that RCLL ships were supposed to be some of the finest afloat but just seeing it I couldn't believe my eyes! Next day, glad to leave the horrible hotel we'd stayed courtesy of the hire car package we went down to the harbour to board. From the moment of embarking (which was very quick and smooth) everything was fantastic. Our room (inside cabin - cheapest!) was great and very spacious. We were on late sitting for dinner and we couldn't have asked for better fellow diners, let alone waitress and busboy - they were absolutely brilliant and the food was excellent. We ate in the main restaurant almost every night - I had room service once as I really couldn't be bothered to get dressed having tired myself out with all the activities during the day I decided to just lie in my bed and veg out watching tv! The only other times we ate elsewhere - i.e. the buffet restaurant was probably twice and that's because we just fancied something quick rather than sitting for 1 - 1/2 hours. Being on the ship was just amazing as we sailed from destination to destination. There were a lot of sea days (5 days from Auckland to Tahiti - then it was Moorea and Bora Bora for the following 2 days, then another 5 days to Hawaii) but we never once got bored. There was so much to do we often went to bed feeling absolutely whacked! We'd get up and do the walkathon at 8am every day, then a quick breakfast, then an aerobics class in the gym. Then it would be off to one of the lounges to do 'sit to be fit!', then up to the pool to do volley ball. Then a quick lunch before a relaxing snooze and sunbath to restore our energy for the afternoon shuffleboard/mini golf/table tennis, and then it was eyes down in one of the lounges for a chance to win mega bucks (sometimes!) on Bingo! Then it would be the 4pm walkathon to collect some more ship shape dollars (which we exchanged for free t-shirts/bags at the end of the trip) followed by another hour's gentle jog (I think people got exhausted just by watching us). A nice steam and sauna in the fabalous spa (without stopping at the icecream cart to grab a few of the various chocolate drops and nuts!) was a perfect end to a busy day before getting changed for dinner and then (trying to bypass the casino but rarely succeeding!) a show, the majority of which were really good. The disco was a laugh and the karaoke somewhat more so (some of these people really should hear themselves!!!!!) We really did have an absolutely fabalous time and I was totally gobsmacked with everything about the ship, it really was amazing and it far outweighed my expectations. I hope that when I go on another cruise that's not Royal Caribbean, for example I'm thinking of Norwegian Sky from San Juan to San Francisco, it is a fantastic experience like the Legend, but I somehow feel that it will be hard to beat!
