This was my second cruise and my husbands first. We decided on a cruise because of all the onboard amenities, and the "romantic" aspect of it all. First, let me say that the ship was huge, beautiful, and very well maintained. The staff was incredibly polite. But, there are a few things that would definitely have to improve before I'd go back on this ship....
1) There were limited places to eat. The Windjammer Cafe, which was just average. It was comparable to eating at Morrisons Cafeteria, but with less choices. The dining room, many courses and our waiter Jose, was awesome. But, the food was just okay. Not as nice as some fancy restaurants I've been to. There were no midnight buffets, which was a real disappointment to both of us. I mean, cruises mean unlimited food, right?? Wrong! We got hungry around 10 pm and there was NO WHERE to eat! We called the information desk and were told to order room service. We did so, and it took an hour to get to our room. My husband ordered a hot sandwich, which came to us ice cold and soggy. I ordered vegetable soup and, it too was ice cold. AND...it had seafood floating in it! I don't ever recall seeing seafood in vegetable soup!! So, for the food end of it, we'd have been better off staying at a nice restaurant!
2) The pools were nice, but both of them are side by side and were constantly filled with little kids. We couldn't lay by the pool without constantly getting splashed. I feel that they should have a "kiddie pool" or a "family pool" and an "adult" pool. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a scrooge...I have children. But, I just feel that I paid a lot of money to go on the trip and the adults should have had their own "areas". AND, the pools closed at 9 or 10 pm. I felt they should have been kept open a lot longer. The adults wanted to swim after the kids were off to bed, and they were closed!
But, the rest of the ship was nice and the destinations were awesome. We didn't make it to Labadee because of Hurricane Floyd. Ocho Rios had a pretty beach, but some of the locals were creepy. Dunn's River Falls was an incredible shore excursion though! Grand Cayman was absolutely gorgeous. We snorkeled with the stingrays, which was quite an experience, let me tell you. Cozumel was a blast. The snorkeling was breathtaking and the locals were a trip. Carlos and Charlie's was so much fun, we didn't want to leave. Not to mention, the duty free shopping was a big PLUS!!!
Overall, it wasn't bad, but I'm sure there are ships out there that have a little more to offer.
