Lovina appears to be economically disadvantaged when compated to other Balinese beach destinations like Kuta and Sanur.
The tout, hawkers and transport drivers are little more than street thugs who are aggressive and try to sell you everything from tours to magic mushrooms. If you turn them down, they talk amongst themselves about you in Balinese.
I had 500,000 rupiahs taken from my bag in my room at the Nirwana Seaside Cottages by the cleaning people and the management there refused to take any responsibility for the actions of their staff, preferring to say that the entire incident was my fault.
Do yourself a favor, if you want a nice beach experience, go to Sanur instead.
Lovina was a terrible experience.
