Natural Bridge is an incredible feat of Mother Nature. A large, arching rock is literally carved out by centuries of crashing waves. There are no paved roads or tour guides or traffic lights. Just a winding, rutted, trail across the desert leading you there. You may pass a few goats along the way and maybe a 4-wheel drive vehicle or two, but that's about it.
We bounced our way along the rutted road, that soon turned into not much more that a trail. Luckily, the island is so small we had no fear of getting lost during our journey. When the road dead ends you are at Natural Bridge.
The hot, often bumpy trip, is well worth it when you arrive at Natural Bridge. The Caribbean Sea is brilliant turquoise and comes crashing into the opening carved by hundreds of years of erosion against the massive rocks. Climbing down a set of stone steps you can reach the beach area beneath the arch or "Natural Bridge" to view it from sea level.
It might be tempting to want to walk across the narrow ledge that goes across the ocean. However, the madly crashing waves and swirling sea mists were sufficient to keep me from venturing out there.
It's quite a beautiful sight to stand nearby and watch the waves crashing through the opening, watching the foamy water, and wondering how many powerful waves it took to carve this impressive structure.
Be sure and take your camera when you visit here. There are several opportunities for great photos at Natural Bridge. This is a one-of-a-kind scenic view!
