Even though spring temperatures may reach into the triple digits without a cloud in the sky, the continuous dry breezes of Palm Beach, Aruba offer sunbathers the feeling of relaxing in front of a huge fan. Just travel around the island to witness the effects of the constant breeze, i.e., the trees grow at an angle in the direction of the wind on this little arid island.
One of the overwhelming positive results of the huge oil refinery complex on the far east side of Aruba is the desalination plant which offers island occupants and visitors what I would guess is probably the cleanest, best tasting tap water south of the U.S. mainland. As a result, some of the travel precautions with respect to eating and drinking are not a factor of concern as they would be on other islands.
If you're interested in gaming, Aruba has an abundance of world class casino properties many of which are right on the hotel grounds on Palm Beach, while others are either downtown or midway between.
Spend a little time at the beach and most men will soon notice the topless bathing suit option exercised by a large percentage of European female sunbathers. In the event that you tire of such activities, take a catamaran cruise to a snorkel sight for a relaxing day of observing sea life in nearly crystal clear warm waters or travel to any one of the near offshore reefs for a short swim out snorkel adventure.
For a little more adventure rent a Jeep, put the top down, (don't forget your sunglasses) this place is windy... travel west towards the lighthouse and continue on to the windward side of the island(there are no paved roads, so don't even think about driving a car, you'll need to use your four wheel drive). The scenery on this side of the island can best be described as desolate yet spectacular with a number of tourist sights for your consideration. Back on the leeward side, downtown Oranjistad offers a number of fine restaurants and shopping venues for tourists and locals alike.
Overall, a one week stay in Aruba offers the first time visitor an ample opportunity to experience this little Dutch flavored island to the fullest extent while still allowing time for adequate rest and relaxation.
