We went to Aruba for our Honeymoon and it is truly a perfect spot for a romantic getaway!
I had been to several destinations in the Caribbean including Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. Aruba in my opinion blew them away! It is a beautiful island in a very different way. It is more desert-like than lush and tropical, although at several of the resorts you will find very lush grounds. But the island itself is very arid with many cacti and it is really a beautiful place.
The island is very safe and that is one thing that I especially liked about it. We could walk the beach at night with little fear of being robbed or attacked as is the case on some other islands. The people of Aruba are so warm and friendly and really seem to enjoy the tourists. We always felt safe in a taxi, or the beach, or downtown.
By day the beaches are beckoning you to just relax and unwind. They are beautiful and each resort has it's section with chairs and huts to sit under for some shade. We spent time at the beach as well as the resort pool which was just great. We stayed at La Cabana and their were several pools, some with rock formation water falls, some with swim up pool bars and others with water slides. It was quite relaxing!
The weather in Aruba is hot and dry! It rarely rains and they are outside the hurricane belt. We went in the month of November running into December and it was great, in the upper 80's every day and sun,sun,sun!
By evening there are many different types of restaurants to try and some even have entertainment such as shows or dancing. There are casinos everywhere to try your luck! Whatever your pleasure you will surely find something to do!
I would, and intend, to return to Aruba again in the future! It is a perfect vacation spot!
