Pros: NO TOURISTS, Friendly People and GREAT FOOD - CHEAP TOO!
Cons: You'll NEVER hear about this at any travel agent or ship excursion desk!
The Bottom Line: If you want to REALLY see what a place is like, GET AWAY from "Hotel Row" and all of the tourist CLIP joints - ENJOY!

Escape all of the touristy hubub of Nassau by finding out what the real people and real food of the place are like!
When my wife and I went on our vacation to Nassau we did all of the touristy things....the straw market, the tour of Nassau..etc..etc...YAWN!!!!
Things really got interesting when we caught a cab and struck up a conversation with the driver. He gave us an un-official tour of Nassau showing us all of the regular stuff until we asked him about what people really did down there who were not on vacation.
He took us on a ride outside of town far, far away from all of the tourist drawing money making joints to a little community that was in the hills above Nassau. In fact, the area was called... Over the Hill The area looked like any neighborhood where decent working class folks lived. After showing us around the area, he took us to a resturant that I will remember for the rest of my life. It was called the Three Queens resturant. There, I had the finest seafood that I have had (to this date) ever!
My wife had Conch and I had Grouper....it was simply elegant!
I have eaten in a lot of fine resturants before, but the taste that this little place in the hills had for seafood would put to shame the efforts of the Finest Chef that I have ever encountered!
After a very enjoyable evening of talking with the locals, my wife and I called our cab friend back to pick us us to carry us back to downtown Nassau.
We have been on a LOT of travel excursions before but this was one of the most enjoyable one that we had encountered in some time.
Now, whenever we visit a place, we always seek out the real people that live there. Their stories and fellowship surpasses anything that you get from the canned tourist stuff you are fed from the travel services!
