Beware in Nassau

Recently went to Nassau and stayed in a trashy pest hole called the British Colonial Hotel in Nassau. The place was nasty as hell with smelly carpets, peeling paint and a lift that did not work. 2 days without hot water. Us "ole" fat boys with bad knees had to climb the stairs to the 3rd floor for a week and it was hell. This place used to be a showcase but it is now little more than a gigantic pigeon roost because most of the hotel is closed off but the open windows in the closed section invite the nesting birds. A lot of broken glass in the beach area. The food and beverage vouchers were no good there and the hotel management tried to play semantics games about doing something about that issue. Tried to complain to the NY based travel co which sold the reservations there and they refused to listen to the problem. Sad day in hell if I ever go back to Nassau for any reason. Best Western no longer lists the place on their affiliations. Good riddance!
