Pros: A quite, relaxing, low-key upscale resort where service is first and foremost.
Cons: You get what you pay for and it isn't cheap
The Bottom Line: Little Dix is as they say, "Understated elegance" and it's a great place to go to relax and decompress from the everyday world.

| terrapin-92's Full Review: Virgin Gorda |
My wife and I just returned from the most wonderful vacation we have ever had. We spent a week at Little Dix for our anniversary and could not have been more impressed. Originally heading for a sister resort in the Grenadines, that ended up closing early for renovations, our reservations were honored at Little Dix.
The moment we arrived at the tiny Beef Island airport our bags were rounded up and then we were whisked away via boat to the resort. Rum punch in hand, we had the boat to ourselves for the 20-minute ride.
The standard ocean view room was fine, though I recommend you get a bigger room as far away from the sometimes-busy pier. It tends to be loud. The rooms on either the east or west end seemed to be nicest. The grounds were beautiful and staff was very accommodating. After a recent remodel all the rooms now have air-conditioning. Our room had a refrigerator and the “ice man” delivered ice three times a day. If you want some privacy and don't want him knocking on your door just leave the ice bucket outside your room. None of the rooms lock from the outside so you don't need a key - make sure you use the room safe for valuables.
Being the beginning of slow/hurricane season (September), we practically had the resort to ourselves after Labor Day. This was both good and bad. It was great only sharing the 1/2-mile wide crescent beach with a handful of others. The lack of other guests added to the already understated nature of the resort. However, no one told us that two of the three restaurants would be closed. That withstanding, the food was outstanding, as was the service. Being there eight nights we got to sample almost the entire menu and most specials (usually two a night). All were consistently good. The wine list covers all the bases and was not as overpriced as I anticipated. We got the MAP plan; though probably will not next time since it is no less expensive than dinning a la carte. Plus, there are other restaurants we would like to explore on and around the island. If you are looking for something romantic I recommend you dine on the beach one night, it costs a little extra but it’s worth it.
The island of Virgin Gorda is one of the prettiest I've ever seen. You should definitely visit the beaches outside the resort (some of the best in the Caribbean) - Little Valley Trunk, Spring Bay, and the Baths being highlights. The resort has complimentary water taxis that can take you to any one of a number of beaches. The snorkeling in the resort's reef protected bay is good - we saw lemon sharks, rays, barracuda, sea turtles and many fish.
As with everything in life, you get what you pay for. And at Little Dix you get a lot, but it doesn't come cheap. Other than the water taxis, welcome bottle of rum and fitness center not much else is included.
To bad we had to leave, but at least we have our return to look forward to.
